2nd ANNOUNCEMENT & INVITATION

17th International Conference on Pharmaceutical Medicine
30. Jahreskongress der DGPharMed
- Berlin, Germany, March 20th - 21st, 2014 -

SMART DEVELOPMENT FOR BETTER DRUGS [http://www.icpm2014.com/]

Dear Colleague
Dear Clinical Research and Pharmaceutical Medicine Professional

We warmly invite you to attend the 17th International Conference on Pharmaceutical Medicine (ICPM 2014). It is an international forum for pharmaceutical physicians, pharmaceutical medicine professionals and clinical research experts world-wide who are involved in the discovery, development, evaluation, registration, monitoring and marketing of medicines. ICPM 2014 is a unique opportunity for all participants to listen and interact with opinion leaders and stakeholders from academia, governments, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations (CROs), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all over the world in a neutral environment and a friendly forum.

2nd EXCERPT from the SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM
"Global Scope Regulations in Pharmacovigilance"
Thursday, 20th March 2014 - 1:30 - 3:00 pm

Pharmacovigilance (PV) issues are a prominent part of the ICPM 2014 program, including "A glance at the Global Pharmacovigilance Landscape - some practical aspects", "PV in EU and US - where are the main differences?", "Quantitative and qualitative benefit risk evaluation: A new approach to measure risk", and "Risk management and risk minimization: How to monitor success?"

The overall goal of all PV activities worldwide is risk minimization in relation to the use of medicines. The regulatory framework for risk minimization is complex and might differ from country to country, and in case of a serious adverse event PV comes to the fore of public attention. Therefore a proactive approach is even more required and any serious adverse event of a particular medicine might increasingly be considered to be a failure not only of the medicine but also of the PV system of the particular authorization holder.

To successfully cope with all this it requires highly qualified professionals who constantly increase their expertise by sharing knowledge and experience - in this regard ICPM 2014 offers an excellent opportunity.

2nd GLANCE at BERLIN/GERMANY - "Berlin - a splendid cultural city"

Joining ICPM 2014 offers you the chance to explore the splendid cultural city Berlin with about 170 museums of art, science and history. Enjoy visiting the famous bust of the ancient Egyptian queen Nefertiti or the Pergamon altar. Come and see the collection of 20th century European painting and sculpture in the New National Gallery, also named the "temple of light and glass" designed by the eminent architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Or feel the particular atmosphere at the "Checkpoint Charlie" where you learn the history of the Berlin Wall and the stories of those affected by it. And - last but not least - you also might devote attention to the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, which is close to the Brandenburg Gate.

Whatever you are interested in - "Berlin in Brief" [http://www.berlin.de/en] provides you more information.
